Have you lost confidence in your back? It’s okay, there are safe and effective exercises that will help you rebuild trust in your back. When your back goes into spasm, leaving you immobile for days it’s understandable that you lose confidence in your body. But the longer you spend not moving the slower your recovery could be.

Does your fear of pain keep you doing the things you love? It’s natural to avoid things that cause pain, in fact it’s sensible. But if this fear avoidance keeps you from enjoying your hobbies and from working then you need to overcome those fears to get back in control of your life.

There is hope for back pain sufferers!

Motion truly is lotion; ease back pain with exercise. Our bodies are designed to move every day, we are upright walking creatures. But so often we are sitting for hours on end. To stay healthy we need to keep moving we also need to challenge ourselves a little every day. It should be no surprise, therefore, that recovery from a back injury will require some exercise. In fact, most spinal specialists will use tailored exercise programmes like ours and allow the body to heal itself. The days of more invasive treatments are in the past for many back issues.

Keep back problems from recurring by practising better movement patterns and changing harmful habits. At Northants Pilates we teach people how to exercise to a high standard but we also teach people how to look after themselves outside of class. Better posture, good body awareness and proper core engagement can all help to make your everyday movements more efficient and less tiresome on your body.

I have no hesitation in recommending Karen and her colleagues to my patients, as Pilates really can aid recovery from many of the operations I undertake, most specifically those involving the shoulder where restoration of correct spinal alignment, posture and core strength are all vital to good shoulder function.

Karen and her colleagues are all very hands on in their approach; something I have experienced first-hand, having myself attended many classes with my wife.
