You might be a Pilates master but do you know everything there is to know about Webcams and Zoom calls?


Common Questions

What do I need for an online class? These are live classes so you’ll need decent internet and a device with a webcam (laptops, tablets or phones). You’ll also need to install Zoom too.

Do I need to create a Zoom account, is Zoom free? Zoom is completely free, you can create a free account which means your teacher will know exactly who’s trying to join class.

How does the teacher actually teach me? It’s all done through webcam/microphone. Your teacher will be instructing you over webcam, you’ll be able to see them demonstrate exercises but most importantly they’ll be watching you making sure your technique is good and you’re working hard.


How do our online classes work?

2. Download the Zoom app

You can download and try out zoom here

3. Wait for you Virtual Studio link, then get exercising

After booking class you will be emailed with a link to your virtual studio 24 hours and 20 minutes before the start.

Once you click on this link Zoom will load automatically and your teacher will let you in. Say hello and get ready to exercise

Getting your Webcam set up perfectly. Do you need props?

A camera enabled device is vital. Laptops are perfect as their easy to set up. Tablets or good camera-phones with a stand are also good. Find the best phone/tablet stand here!

You need to be able to position your camera a few feet away so we have a wide clear view of you either standing or laying down. Watch the video to learn about gear and camera positioning.

You may need other props in some classes, the teacher will let you know. Find our full shopping list here.

 

Other handy tips for getting your device ready

  1. Download Zoom to your device and create an account. IT’S FREE. https://zoom.us/download

    This will make life easier as your computer/tablet can remember your Zoom settings so you’re ready to go each class.

2. Get your Windows device ready

Windows devices can require a little more tweaking. You need to make sure mic/webcam are working and if it’s a newer product, make sure there are no obstructing privacy settings.

Test out your webcam and see what your teacher will see

You may have to give Zoom permission to use your webcam/sound

2. Get your Apple devices ready

The Webcams and microphones on your Ipads, Macbooks, etc should always be working. Sometimes your privacy settings block them though.

3. Make sure Zoom displays your name, so your teacher knows who is entering the studio.
