WHERE CAN I DO PILATES IN RUSHDEN?

Believe or not, we’ve been teaching Pilates classes in Rushden since 1997 - back when Pilates first started to become better known. And here we are about to celebrate 25 years since I first started teaching.

We have a stunning venue in a converted Shoe Factory, we provide all the equipment including mats. So if you would like to join a great (small) group of people who are passionate about movement, health and wellbeing in Rushden, read on!

It’s more than just a core workout - or a bit of breathing!

I was lucky enough to work with a spinal specialist surgeon as well as many other local health professionals in Northamptonshire. Since then, we’ve had a steady stream of referrals as they know we will look after their patients and continue their rehab journey to recovery I’ve also worked with professional sports people from premiership footballers, golfers, cricketers (being at the County Cricket ground gives you a clue!) and more. Lots of our clients are runners, triathletes and many other sports who look to us to keep them going and injury free. So if you love to run and want to do more, then our classes may just give you the extra you need to step up to the next level and you don’t have to travel far to get it, it’s all local to you in Rushden.

WHAT MAKES US SO GOOD? take the guesswork out of exercise!

Do you throw everything at an ab curl? Does your neck hurt when you do them? Can you squat well or does it hurt your knees? Have you hit a plateau with your running? Set up correctly for every exercise and break down some of the movements to see what you can do at individual joint level that opens up better movements elsewhere. Small classes and hands on teaching is our way of working with our clients so that everyone gets what their body needs. Every class is put together to get your joints moving – whether hips or shoulders or spine. Because that’s the very best way to keep strong and doing the stuff you love to do and its on your doorstep in Rushden too!

BACK PAIN? HIP PROBLEMS? Shoulders? Neck?

Many of our clients come to us with back issues or other rehab needs. We give them confidence to exercise and improve their back problems and most importantly, understand what is going on and how to manage any flare ups. Consequently, they stay with us for years, because they love how it feels and how good it is at keeping them away from a cycle of pain, needing treatment, getting over it and then it starts again.

HOW DO OUR CLASSES WORK?

We limit numbers. Because of that, we get to know you, what your body needs, where you might cheat, where you need a bit more input. We give feedback to everyone in class. We do our utmost to ensure your body gets what it needs from a Pilates mat class. Even an online Pilates mat class!

THINKING OF STARTING PILATES?

We’ve a great team of teachers who are highly qualified and committed to teaching not just giving instructions and having their own workout. Believe me that isn’t the norm! A good qualification is expensive and time consuming, so it takes commitment to train properly. As with all things, there are cheaper ways to gain qualifications. We wouldn’t get the referrals we do if we didn’t have the high standards of training we hold.

Our gorgeous Rushden venue is a converted Shoe Factory..we even have underfloor heating in the winter!

What our clients say about our classes.

Our clients come from all walks of life and we get to know them. Some clients do Face to Face classes, some do online classes and some do both. Our teaching whether online or face to face is exactly the same. You will never be watching us have a workout. We are there to teach and watch you, give you feedback and support.

“Pilates has really changed my life, I am in my 40s and have a history of back & mobility issues and I was previously visiting my osteopath once a fortnight for treatment. I was in a lot of pain and discomfort which was limiting my ability to carry out everyday tasks and activities. I now visit my osteopath infrequently & he is really impressed with my significant improvement and that’s all thanks to the Northants Pilates Team.”

*“Prior to lockdown I only had time to attend 1 class a week, which was great, however, with online classes I have increased to 3 times a week which has significantly benefited my physical and mental health and wellbeing. There are no excuses for not keeping fit as it doesn’t matter where I am or what I am doing I can join an online class even when I am on holiday!

The Northants Pilates team are first class and they are so very friendly, supportive and thoughtful. I thoroughly enjoy the classes I attend and every class has a new challenge in it which often makes me giggle as trust me I am no Darcy Bussell!

There is no excuse for not feeling great and achieving what you want to in a supportive and friendly environment………your own house with your teacher online to take you through each move step by step! When you guys pulled out all the stops to do online Pilates at the beginning of the pandemic, it was a lifeline! It gave the continuity of Pilates and familiar tutors/class mates.”

The online class size remained small (a real must to have confidence that we're being scrutinised for any 'innocent' misdemeanours and for cheeky in class banter)!

Our long-term plan to move from Northants gave us a serious problem as we didn't want to give up our Pilates with you guys so Covid and, the online classes, did us a favour.

“I would love to do f2f back at the studio but can't so am very grateful for online. The humour, banter, challenge, and work are all still there. As a substitute for f2f, it's pretty damn good...you and Karen (the tutors I see most), explain well, move your camera angles on yourselves to explain an exercise and keep a very beady eye on us which is reassuring! Also, I can always ask for a further explanation if I've lost the plot.”

I am very grateful for online Pilates with you guys and would be upset, if after 11 years of doing Pilates (f2f and latterly online), to lose the link I have with you.

So...a big thank you!

“No travelling - no problems with traffic and parking, so I am relaxed and ready to concentrate. I often close my eyes to try and really feel the right movements and eliminate the unnecessary ones, and I don’t feel self-conscious doing this. I have a mirror on the wall in front of me when I’m doing the class - looking in the full-wall mirror at County Ground studio was cringe-making for me. It was hard not to see other people moving better than me, but I really use the mirror to check my position now. It feels like there is more time to get the movements right and there’s no comparison with other class members. I know you are watching me and I appreciate your attention and feedback.”
